The New Year has commenced with a breathe of a fresh start. 

How can you meet your health goals when you are running around with the tasks that life requires your to pay your attention to? While there are a variety of solutions, The Bodhi closes this gap and fuels your vision with our all natural meal plans! 

Studies have shown that hours spent cooking at home have decreased from ~2
 hours per day in the mid 1960's to 58 min in the mid 2000's (1).  Whether the cause may be attributed to the increase of our work load, school load, family, or other daily responsibilities, the quality and time spent on the food that nourishes our health has decreased significantly. 

Inversely (but not the causation), the rise of chronic illness -especially those relating to nutrition- have significantly increased (2).  This gap between nutrition and health also encompasses a platform where nutritional education, convenience, and accessibility come into play. The Bodhi - in conjunction with ILO Health- exist to bridge that gap for you. 

Our meals are prepared with ingredients that are chosen for their nutritional value and support to the human body. Every ingredient is made from scratch, therefore it lacks any sugar, refined fats, heavy salts, or preservatives. Due to the raw and diverse quality, each meal can tailor to any health goal or diet type (including but not limited to: Vegan, Vegetarian, Keto, Paleo, Whole30, raw, etc).

What's the right way to fuel your body when it comes to this delicious meal time... especially when there's so many options?! From cereal to avocado toast, what can you enjoy that tastes good, and is good for you?

The Bodhi is a nutrition-focused concept that aims to nourish and support the health of your body naturally. Every item is made from scratch, sans any refined sugars, fats, or additives. This gives you the freedom to choose any item on the menu that supports your health needs. 

The Steak & Eggs breakfast is a popular dish that boasts a wide variety of vitamins and nutrients that support the health of your body from the inside out.  As a wrap, the Steak & Eggs contains Steak, Eggs, Mushrooms, Seasoned Potatoes, Feta, and Onions all wrapped up into a whole wheat wrap! 

How is it good for you?
  1. BRAIN HEALTH: The mixture of vegetables, whole grains, steak, and eggs make this dish suitable for the health and function of your brain. Eggs contain choline, which is a nutrient that is strongly associated with supporting & protecting your brain cells (along with the vitamins from the various vegetables), memory, muscle contraction, and mood- just to name a few (1). The vegetables provide an abundance of antioxidants, iron from steak that promote blood flow to your brain, and B-complex vitamins that not only protect your brain from free radical damage, but also promote it's  function in operating as efficiently as possible (1). 
  2. MUSCLE HEALTH: This wrap boasts at least 55 grams of protein with an abundance of vitamins and minerals in between that support the function of muscular health. Nutrients like B-12, B-6, phosphorus, manganese, iron, choline, and calcium are a select few of the many nutrients available in this wrap that promote the function of your body. These nutrients are associated with facilitating muscular contraction, cellular communication (which can increase your operating and reaction speed), and promote muscle restoration after a workout (3).  
  3. DETOX- Nutrients from the eggs, like choline support the function of the liver, through detox and restoration of liver cells, which can make it great for those who had one too many drinks while celebrating (2). And while eggs have gotten a bad reputation for increasing cholesterol, numerous studies have shown that dietary cholesterol does not play a role in your blood cholesterol.

Carrots – beta carotene in carrots help boost brain health and memory. They are efficient in reducing stress in the brain and increases feelings of positivity, happiness and stress free. It is great to pair carrots with fats because the beta carotene cannot be absorbed nearly as well as it is when in the presence of fats (avocados or oils).

Bananas – tryptophan in bananas increase moods and reduce depression and anxiety. Magnesium helps to relax the muscles and vitamin B6 regulates healthy sleeping.
Apples – the apple skin has up to two to six times the antioxidants as the flesh. They are also high in fiber.

Dark leafy greens (spinach or kale) – these type of leafy greens help fight against brain inflammation and contain an abundance of vitamins A, C, E and K, minerals, and phytochemicals.
Grapefruit – rich in antioxidants, fiber and vitamin C. This vitamin helps to reduce cortisol and bring feelings of calm and relaxing.

Lettuce – abundant in folate and vitamin B6. A deficiency in folate is linked to anxiety and depression. Vitamin B6 is important to help your body create serotonin.

Citrus fruits – helps fight cognitive decline, elevate moods and induce relaxation. Fruits with magnesium, like oranges, help fight depression and anxiety.

Fresh berries – blueberries, strawberries, blackberries, and raspberries are loaded with antioxidants that help to fix and rebuild cells.

Cucumber – full of vitamin B that reduces PMS symptoms, depression and anxiety. Cucumbers help to balance hormones with this vitamin to decrease stress.
